WWE bringing back WCW Pay Per View Starrcade

Those who were fortunate to witness the unraveling of Monday Night Wars in the ‘90s would remember one of WCW’s exclusive Pay – Per – Views, Starrcade. The ’97 and ’98 editions of Starrcade especially were memorable, with Sting defeating “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan at Starrcade ’97.

In a shocking turn of events, Kevin Nash defeated Bill Goldberg at Starrcade ’98, thereby ending his 173 – 0 win streak! The final edition of Starrcade rolled out in December of 2000, with Scott Steiner defeating Sid Vicious in the main event to retain the WCW Heavyweight Championship.

For months, there have been rumours swirling around about WWE possibly resurrecting the WCW PPVs from the dead. WWE is said to be interested in bringing back some of the old WCW PPV names going forward, and in what could be the earliest indication yet, the Greensboro Coliseum recently announced WWE Starrcade on November 25th!

The event will be nineteenth under the Starrcade chronology, and is currently being advertised as a SmackDown Live exclusive PPV. In the main event, Jinder Mahal is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in a Steel Cage match.

While the card is subjected to change, this could also indicate that Jinder Mahal would retain the title against Nakamura at Hell In A Cell. Other main attraction matches currently being advertised are Charlotte Flair versus Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and a triple threat match between AJ Styles, Rusev and Baron Corbin for the WWE United States Championship.
