It would be fair to say that Sunil Ambris’ Test debut is a memorable one but the 24-year-old would love to forget this moment as soon as possible. The St Vincent native became the first player in history to be dismissed hit-wicket on his debut for a golden duck!
Ambris was one of the seven scalps Neil Wagner took on Day 1 of the Wellington Test, as the visitors were bowled out for a partly 134 after being asked to bat. He was vary of the short balls the Kiwi pacer had been dishing out since the morning and went too far back in his crease. He ended up dislodging the bail with his right ankle while attempting to play a rising delivery off his hips towards fine leg.
