Prithvi Shaw made a decent contribution on his IPL debut with a 22 against Kings XI Punjab. However, the former U-19 captain bettered his performance on Friday night, scoring his maiden half-century in IPL.
Shaw opened the innings for Delhi Daredevils along with Colin Munro, with Gautam Gambhir stepping down as skipper and dropped from the XI. The Mumbai batsman went on to score an excellent half-century, taking on the his former U-19 teammate Shivam Mavi and Mitchell Johnson after capitalising on the spinners Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine. Shaw finished with 62 from 44 balls, which included seven boundaries and two sixes.
His performance at the top allowed the skipper Shreyas Iyer to build on the good start and take Delhi Daredevils to a massive score of 219 in their 20 overs.
