Watch: Navjot Kaur’s emotional celebration after clinching gold at Asian Wrestling Championships

Twenty eight year old Navjot Kaur became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships, overcoming Japan’s Miya Imai in a convincing fashion in the final of the 65 kg category. Kaur defeated Imai 9-1 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Kaur had earlier lost to Imai in the group stages of the championships in her first match. She took up wrestling because of her elder sister Navneet, and the emotions in her celebration were palpable as she draped the tricolour around her shoulders and took a lap of the mat, celebrating with her coach and the rest of the Indian contingent.
