You need to be an exceptional bowler to be able to stand out in the Australian bowling line-up which includes Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon is proving to be one. The off-spinner has picked up 53 wickets in 2017, which includes five five-wicket hauls and seven wickets in the ongoing Ashes. And he has already produced a highlight moment of the series.
The 30-year-old picked up the wicket of Alastair Cook before Tea on Day 3, tempting the batsman to play outside the line encouraging the outside edge and captain Steve Smith did the rest at slip. Lyon resumed his spell after Tea and in his second over after the break, pulled off this sensational catch to dismiss Moeen Ali. The England all-rounder played across the line to a standard off-spinning delivery resulting in a leading edge. Lyon managed to hold on to the ball after flying to his left, picking up his second wicket of the day.
Here’s that moment!
