Watch: Alex Hales smashes 95 off just 30 balls, almost breaks Gayle’s fastest T20 century record

Batting for Nottinghamshire against Durham in a Natwest T20 Blast game, Alex Hales almost broke Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest T20 century when he smashed 95 off just 30 balls. Hales hit nine sixes in his innings, and fell agonizingly close to the record after he got out in the process of trying to hit his 10th six.

After his knock, Hales said, “I knew there was a chance to go for the quickest T20 century of all-time and you don’t get those opportunities very often.” He added, “I love batting at Trent Bridge, for me it is utter paradise, the wickets are great and there are some short boundaries, so I knew there was a chance of doing it.” Watch the shots from Hales’ amazing innings below, as he helped his team cruise past Durham’s total in the second innings!
