VVS Laxman’s thoughts on Team India, Kohli and Rohit Sharma

In Part I, we spoke to VVS Laxman about his predictions for the T20 World Cup, and his thoughts on some of the best players in the world. If you missed it, do check it out here.

In Part I, VVS Laxman stated that Virat Kohli was one of the best T20 batsmen in the world. So what makes Kohli so special? In Laxman’s opinion, Kohli keeps things simple, and doesn’t alter his technique significantly across formats. Watch on for more!

It hasn’t always been this easy for Kohli though – he had a very tough tour of England where James Anderson managed to exploit a couple of holes in his technique. Those days are behind Kohli now though – watch Laxman’s analysis of Kohli’s new, evolved batting technique.

The other batsman who has been responsible for India’s success in T20 cricket is Rohit Sharma. His lack of consistency had drawn considerable criticism, but Rohit Sharma too seems to have evolved greatly as a cricketer. A lot of that has come from him captaining Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and taking on positions of responsibility. Watch on for more!

No interview about India’s T20 success is complete without talking about MS Dhoni. VVS Laxman is one of the few cricketers who had been a senior member of the side when Dhoni debuted, and then went on to play under Dhoni’s captaincy. In his opinion, Dhoni’s success as a captain comes down to two attributes – his understanding of the tactical side of the game, and his man-management skills.

Finally, the current Indian team is probably the best fielding unit in the history of Indian cricket. Indeed the likes of Jadeja, Kohli and Raina are now among the best fielders in the world. The standard of fielding has gone up considerably since Laxman played international cricket – watch his analysis on why this is the case.
