We recently caught up with Virender Sehwag and asked him about Indian cricket, Twitter, his own career and more! This is Part I of the interview.
Sehwag is one of the few batsmen to have played with both Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He believes that while a comparison from a cricketing point of view is unfair, there is a difference in their personalities that is reflected in their playing styles.
On playing with Tendulkar – ‘Aisa lagta tha sher ke saath jungle mein ja rahe ho’
Playing with Kohli – ‘Aisa lagta hain ki aap lombdi ke saath ja rahe ho jo bahut chatur hain, usko malum hain ki kaise bachke nikalna hain jungle se.’
Watch on for more!
Sehwag continues to watch plenty of cricket, due to his role as an analyst, as well as his mentoring position with Kings XI Punjab. He names Kohli, Warner and Rohit Sharma as his favourite batsmen to watch, and Rishabh Pant as his favourite uncapped player.
Finally, we asked Sehwag about his favourite innings of all time. Surprisingly enough, it isn’t one of his more famous or celebrated knocks. It’s his first Test century against South Africa! Sehwag explains that most people saw him primarily as an ‘ODI player’ at that point in his career, so it was important for him to prove that he could score Test hundreds as well.
