Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson added to the UFC Liverpool card
A week after UFC revealed that they would hold an event in Liverpool, the card started taking shape. While the event was originally scheduled to take place in Dublin, Ireland, the UFC officials decided to go ahead with Liverpool, considering the local fighter and top welterweight prospect, Darren Till was expected to headline the card.
Earlier today, another big bout was announced, with top 10 ranked fighters, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson announced to duke it out in the co – main event. Magny (20 – 6 MMA, 13 – 5 UFC) is coming off a big victory over the former title challenger, Carlos Condit, while Gunnar Nelson (16 – 3 – 1 MMA, 7 – 3 UFC) looks to put his disappointing loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio behind him.
Neil Magny has registered victories over the likes of former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks, Hector Lombard and Kelvin Gastelum, while his last three losses all came to UFC and Bellator MMA title challengers, Rafael dos Anjos, Lorenz Larkin and Demian Maia.
“Gunni” Gunnar Nelson has picked up victories against Zak Cummings and Alan Jouban, but has succumbed to the likes of Demian Maia and Rick Story, making this a must – win fight for the SBG Ireland fighter, who can propel himself up the rankings with a win over Magny.
The card is expected to be headlined by Darren Till and Stephen Thompson.
