The 11th season of the Indian Premier League will be played between April 7 and May 27, the IPL governing council announced on Monday.
The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is set to host the opening game of the season as well as the final in the last week of May.
A major change brought about by the governing council is the change in timing of games, moving away from the regular 4pm and 8pm starts.
“The Broadcasters requested for a change in timings and IPL governing council in principal has accepted it,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said as per Times of India.
“Live broadcast of 8pm game will be shifted to 7pm, while 4pm will be played at 5:30pm,” he added.
Kings XI Punjab are set to play only three of their home games in Mohali, with the remaining three games being played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The returning Rajasthan Royals’ venue for home games is yet to be decided as the council is awaiting Rajasthan High court’s hearing on January 24.
