The RAW Review – New WWE Universal Champion crowned

On last week’s show, Finn Balor relinquished the WWE Universal Championship, and Mick Foley announced a tournament to crown the new champion. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Big Cass and Kevin Owens won their respective matches, and faced off in a fatal four way match to crown the new champion on this week’s show.

Also, Bayley made her RAW debut last week, and we heard from Sasha Banks about her injury on this week’s edition of RAW. So without further ado, let us take a look at what transpired on this week’s show.

Kevin Owens becomes the new WWE Universal Champion

All four men cut promos to kick off the show, and faced off in the main event with the WWE Universal Championship up for grabs. The main event was a fatal four way elimination match, which saw Big Cass doing remarkably well in his first major outing. Cass was eliminated first, and Owens was taken out of the equation, leaving Roman and Seth to dish it out.

However, the biggest shocker of the night came when Triple H ran out of nowhere, and dropped Roman with a pedigree on the outside. Seth pinned Roman to eliminate him from the match. Afterwards, Triple H dropped Seth with another pedigree! Kevin Owens pinned Seth Rollins to become the new WWE Universal Champion!

A feud between Seth and Triple H was rumored to be in the works, and this will set up a match between the two, most likely at Survivor Series.

Sasha Banks gives an update on her injury

Sasha Banks dropped the WWE Women’s Championship to Charlotte at SummerSlam, with reports coming out that Sasha was badly injured, and would require a back surgery. However, it was later revealed that Sasha wasn’t as badly injured as earlier predicted, and that she could return to in ring competition next month.

On this week’s episode of RAW, Sasha Banks appeared on the pre show and discussed her situation, telling the fans that she will return to in ring competition soon. With Sasha out of the picture, WWE brought Bayley to the main roster, and the former NXT Women’s Champion is expected to face Charlotte next for the WWE Women’s Championship.

Cesaro Section left disappointed once again

Cesaro is one of the most talented and charismatic stars on the main roster. However, the Swiss Superman hasn’t been able to catch a break, with the WWE management believing that he isn’t “championship material”. Cesaro lost to Sheamus at SummerSlam, and cut a passionate promo about not even being considered for the WWE Universal Championship tournament last week.

On this week’s show, Cesaro took on Sheamus in the second match of the series. During the bout, Sheamus sent Cesaro back first into the ring post. Cesaro looked legitimately hurt, while Sheamus locked him in the Cloverleaf submission hold to pick up the victory. It was later revealed that Cesaro’s injury was a work, and that he wasn’t legitimately injured.

However, the fact that Cesaro is over looked time and again hasn’t gone down well with the WWE Universe, and it remains to be seen if he can mount a comeback next week.

Paul Heyman appears on Monday Night RAW

At SummerSlam, Lesnar manhandled and destroyed Randy Orton. Towards the end of the show, Lesnar F – 5’d Shane McMahon, who ran down to the ring to stop Lesnar’s beat down. Last week, Stephanie said she was fining Lesnar 500$ for putting his hands on SmackDown Live’s Commissioner, and Stephanie’s brother.

On this week’s show, Paul Heyman was expected to appear in front of Stephanie. Heyman did just that, and wasn’t afraid to raise his voice against RAW’s Commissioner. With Stephanie warning Heyman, Paul apologized to Stephanie, and asked for her forgiveness. Although Stephanie forgave Heyman and Lesnar, Heyman was seen giggling towards the end.

While WWE’s direction with Lesnar and Shane hasn’t been made obvious yet, Lesnar will take on Randy Orton in a live event next month on the 24th!

Anderson and Gallows go after the tag team champions

Anderson and Gallows attacked The Dudley Boyz last week, and turned their attention towards the tag team champions once again on this week’s show. The New Day teamed up with Bayley to take on Anderson, Gallows and Dana Brooke, with Charlotte on commentary. The New Day and Bayley managed to pick up the victory, and celebrated post match.

While Anderson and Gallows won their match by disqualification at SummerSlam, it remains to be seen if they manage to take the titles off The New Day, possibly at the next RAW PPV.
