Teddy Sheringham named coach of Atletico de Kolkata

Former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham has been appointed as the head coach of Atletico de Kolkata for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

The 51-year-old has replaced Spaniard Jose Francisco Molina, who led the club to their second title last year, sealing a win against Kerala Blasters via penalties.

Sheringham, who won three Premier League titles and the Champions League with United, lasted less than a year in his first stint as manager, with League Two side Stevenage before leaving the club in February 2016.

The competition has been revamped to feature two new sides –  Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC and will last for five months, starting October 1.
