This week on RAW, a huge triple threat match was announced at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship. Braun Strowman and Kane will face Brock Lesnar, while the WWE Championship scene is still unclear.

Moreover, with the Clash of Champions now behind us, there’s a chance a new challenger will prop up at the Royal Rumble. The 16 time world champion, John Cena is scheduled to return as we approach the new year, so it will be interesting to see what role he has to play in the proceedings.

This week has been interesting for quite a few reasons. We take a look at the major talking points from the week.

Dean Ambrose undergoes shoulder surgery

This past week on RAW, Dean Ambrose was involved in a six man tag team match against The Bar and Samoa Joe. During the bout, his brother – in – arms and Shield compatriot, Seth Rollins connected with a suicide dive on the outside. Seth took Ambrose down in the melee, and while everyone else came out relatively unscathed, Ambrose was seen writhing in pain.

WWE later confirmed that Ambrose was injured during the spot, and WWE’s resident doctor, Chris Amann released a statement to

WWE’s statement read:

An MRI has shown suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, possibly a tear, so he is undergoing surgical exploration and most likely surgical repair of the torn triceps tendon,” WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann told “That surgery will be happening later this evening, and we should have some further updates either later tonight or tomorrow morning as to what the findings were, what the structures that were damaged were, and also a timeline for recovery.

There is now a good chance that Ambrose could miss WrestleMania 34, as a full tear could see The Lunatic Fringe sit on the sidelines for up to six months!

Ronda Rousey to make her debut at the Royal Rumble?

The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion is one of the biggest names in the world of sports today. While Ronda’s invincible aura has jaded, thanks to her losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, ‘The Rowdy One’ is still one of the hottest commodities in sports.

It is no secret that Ronda is a big professional wrestling fan, and could usually be spotted attending EVOLVE and PWG in Reseda. Moreover, her stablemate and good friend, Shayna Baszler recently signed a WWE contract, and the global entertainment juggernaut has been trying to lure Ronda to WWE for a while.

While WWE announcing an all – women Royal Rumble this week, the rumours are now making rounds that Ronda Rousey will make her WWE debut during the Rumble match! WWE wants Ronda to compete at WrestleMania, and the earliest report suggests that she will likely face Asuka at WrestleMania 34.

War Machine and Ricochet WWE bound?

Ricochet has been one of the hottest properties in independent wrestling for the past couple of years. While he turned down the opportunity to compete at the inaugural Cruiserweight Classic – and competed in NJPW instead, he is now linked with a move to WWE. It is also being reported that Ricochet will directly start working NXT tapings, rather than working dark matches.

Ricochet isn’t the only independent wrestler that is being linked with a move to the biggest entertainment promotion on the planet. Ring of Honor’s War Machine are also speculated to join the NXT roster soon. The duo lost their match last weekend, which was also their final match for Ring of Honor.

The former ROH Tag Team Champions are currently being advertised for NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th, but would be eligible to join WWE once they finish their independent commitments.
