The SmackDown Lowdown: Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Charlotte Flair join SDLive

This past week on Monday Night RAW, some big names from the blue brand migrated to RAW, including the WWE Intercontinental Champion. Former SmackDown Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss was a part of the exodus, as the intrigue grew around the Superstar Shake Up. Going into this week’s show, everyone wanted to see who’d be switching brands, to end up on the blue brand.

Also, with Bray Wyatt now being a part of the RAW roster, WWE Payback will be his last chance to win back the WWE Championship. This week on SmackDown Live, the WWE Champion was in action against Erick Rowan, while American Alpha faced The Usos for the tag team titles.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn cross paths once again

This week’s episode of SmackDown Live kick started with Kevin Owens making his way out! The WWE United States Champion came out in a suit, and revealed that he was now a part of the blue brand! Owens then knocked the fans, and said Canada was still better than the United States. KO then spoke in French, and knocked the crowd once again.

Baron Corbin interrupted the US Champion, and said he deserved to be the number one contender for the US title. Corbin said he defeated Ambrose, and with Ambrose defeating Owens on RAW, Corbin argued that he was better than KO. However, Sami Zayn made his way out, as Kevin threw a fit! Sami wanted to face Owens for the title, but AJ Styles interrupted the proceedings!

Styles said SmackDown was his house, and he should face Owens. Daniel Bryan then came out, and said the winner of Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho will move to SmackDown Live. He then made a number one contender’s match between AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin.

Randy Orton faced Erick Rowan. Orton was about to go for the RKO when the lights went out. Wyatt appeared on the big screen and cut a promo. Rowan then decked Orton with the steel steps to cause the DQ, as he laid the WWE Champion out.

American Alpha faced The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team titles. Gable and Jordan came close to winning the titles, but in the end, The Usos managed to hang on to the gold. Post match, The Shining Stars made their SmackDown Live debut, and attacked Gable and Jordan.

Jinder Mahal faced Mojo Rawley, and Gronk was shown at ringside. During the match, Mahal confronted Gronk, but Mojo decked him from behind. Gronk then poured beer on Mahal, as Mojo finished him off in the ring to pick up the victory. Mojo then celebrated with Gronk.

Charlotte Flair and Tamina Snuka move to Tuesday nights

Shane McMahon made his way out, and talked about how SmackDown Live lost a few major names on RAW. Shane said that he wanted to address the women’s division, and called out Becky, Carmella, Natalya and the SmackDown Women’s Champion, Naomi. Naomi and James Ellsworth exchanged a few words, before Shane introduced SmackDown’s newest recruit.

Shane called her the biggest acquisition for SmackDown Live, and teased Charlotte’s debut, saying she was a second generation Superstar. Instead, Tamina Snuka came out, as the crowd started a “Sasha” chant. Shane then brought out Charlotte Flair, who was announced as SmackDown Live’s newest acquisition!

It was then revealed that Sin Cara and Rusev would be moving to Tuesday nights.

Aiden English came out, and cut a promo, saying he was now by himself. He sang a little before Tye Dillinger made his way out. Tye defeated English with the Tye Breaker.

Lana was then announced as the next Superstar to be moving to SmackDown Live!

Dolph Ziggler lays down the challenge for Shinsuke Nakamura

Dolph Ziggler made his way out, and cut a promo about how the RAW Superstars were coming to SmackDown to ride his coattails. Ziggler cut a frustrated figure, and talked about getting his opportunities. However, “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura interrupted Ziggler, as the crowd hummed his theme.

Ziggler asked Nakamura who he thought he was, as Shinsuke responded by saying his name. The crowd hummed Shinsuke’s theme, as Ziggler tried to drop him with a Superkick. Shinsuke however caught Ziggler’s leg, as Dolph hightailed from the ring.

The New Day was then announced to be moving to SmackDown Live.

In the main event, AJ Styles took on Corbin and Sami Zayn, with the winner facing the winner of Chris Jericho – Kevin Owens at WWE Payback, for the WWE United States title. After a good back and forth action, Styles dropped Sami with the Phenomenal Forearm to pick up the victory! Styles posed as SmackDown Live went off the air.
