Australian legend Shane Warne has backed under-fire Mahendra Singh Dhoni, stating that the former Indian skipper has nothing to prove.
The leg-spinner took to Twitter on Tuesday (18th April) and wrote, ‘Dhoni does not have to prove anything to anyone, he’s class & a wonderful player in all formats. MS is also a great captain & inspires!’
The 35-year-old wicketkeeper has come under criticism for his poor form in the IPL, with former players stating Dhoni may not be the prolific T20 player he once was. Sourav Ganguly had stated previously that MS Dhoni is a ‘champion ODI player’ but doubted if he is still that good in the shortest format.

Dhoni, who was relieved of his captaincy duties by the Rising Pune Supergiant this year, has had a poor 2017 IPL so far, scoring just 61 runs in five games. Furthermore, his strike-rate is at a mediocre 87.14 with an average just over 15, managing to hit just two sixes.
