134 vs Australia 1998 Sharjah Final
During an interview with Shane Warne, we asked him about comparisons that were made between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. He said that he couldn’t imagine anybody playing better than how Sachin played between 1995 and 1999, whether it was tests, ODIs or in the World Cup. It was a period when Sachin Tendulkar was invincible and this innings exemplified that.
Two days before his 25th birthday, the 24 year-old had smashed 143, known as The ‘Desert Storm’ innings to help India qualify for the final of the tournament. But he was not done. On his 25th birthday, Sachin scored his 15th ODI century in the final against the same opponent. His 134 runs came off 131 balls, which included 12 fours and three sixes, helping India successfully chase down 272 to win the tournament.
Tony Greig on commentary said that Sachin was the nearest thing to Don Bradman there had ever been, a statement which still holds true today.
