Drake Maverick, f.k.a Rockstar Spud named as 205 Live GM
The former Impact Wrestling star was unveiled as the 205 Live General Manager by Daniel Bryan this week. Spud, who was released from his Impact Wrestling contract in October last year, and signed a contract with WWE.
However, Spud couldn’t compete last year, as he had to renew his work visa. Spud is a former TNA X – Division Champion, and won the British Boot Camp in 2013. Rockstar Spud was introduced by Bryan by his new moniker, Drake Maverick, as the newly crowned General Manager talked about signing with WWE, and announced a 16 man tournament to crown the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
WWE announced last week that they would announce a new General Manager, to sort out the championship scene. The announcement came on the heels of Enzo Amore’s release, and the title was vacated. A new Cruiserweight Champion will be crowned at WrestleMania.
Jeremy Borash signs with WWE
Spud wasn’t the only former Impact Wrestling character that signed with WWE recently. The exodus has seen the likes of EC3, and now, Jeremy Borash getting signed to a contract. Yesterday, reports emerged that WWE had come to terms with Borash, who is expected to work with NXT and the WWE Performance Center.
It is being reported that it was Triple H’s decision to bring Jeremy on board. Borash has been with Impact Wrestling since the very beginning, and reportedly left the promotion last week, after performing his final duties for the House of Hardcore show.
There are rumours regarding Borash working with ‘Woken’ Matt Hardy, as he worked closely with the Superstar during his ‘Broken Matt’ run with Impact Wrestling. There is no timeline set for when Borash will appear on – screen, but he is expected to work the NXT tapings this week.
