It is Maharashtra derby day, as the two time champions Mumbai Indians take on the Rising Pune Supergiant at the MCA Stadium in the second game of IPL 10. Both sides had a poor season last year, given the big names and the squads they posses. After reinforcements during the auction in February, the franchises would be hoping for a better finish this season, starting with a win today.
Here are a couple of points to look forward to in today’s game:
Ben Stokes’ debut

He came to tour India with a big reputation, and he produced good performances for the England side. He was predicted to go for big money in the auction, and he did, all of 14.5 Cr. Pune needed an impact player to back their star-studded top order, and the 25-year-old all-rounder fits the bill. Playing his first IPL game in front of a packed stadium, all eyes will be on Stokes to see how he goes about today and the tournament later on.
Return of Rohit Sharma
— Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) April 2, 2017
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has played only two competitive matches since undergoing thigh surgery in November. The 29-year-old has been out of action since the final ODI against New Zealand, missing out on key series against England and Australia. Though he has managed only 20 runs in the two games for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the dashing opener will be looking to regain his best in the IPL, and possibly be at his best before entering the Champions Trophy in June.
