Best reactions to Kevin O’Brien’s historic Test century against Pakistan

The date 14th May 2018 will go down as a watershed moment in the history of the game and for Irish cricket. On a chilly afternoon in Malahide, Kevin O’Brein became the first batsman to score a Test century for Ireland, finishing on an unbeaten 118 on Day 4 of the nation’s inaugural Test against Pakistan.

His rescue effort, along with a gritty half-century from Stuart Thompson and Tyrone Kane’s defiance, wiped off Pakistan’s 180-run lead after the visitors enforced the follow-on. Furthermore, the runs accumulated by the previous two partnerships has garnered the Irish a lead of 139 runs at Stumps on Day 4, and setting up a tricky final day on Tuesday.

Kevin O’Brien’s century was a groundbreaking moment in not just Irish cricket, but also the game itself. Here are some of the reactions after he brought up his maiden Test century.
