A week removed from Triple H punching Kurt Angle, leading to some hilarious memes being posted online, this week’s RAW finally rolled out the red carpet, for the cat to come out of the bag. The worst kept secret heading into WrestleMania was finally unveiled for the world to see, and now, we can focus on other matchups.
There are many intriguing stories developing on RAW. From Strowman and Elias being involved in some audacious to borderline hilarious matches, to Asuka and Nia Jax going back and forth, WWE is sitting on some popular bouts – to – make for WrestleMania 34. Lest we forget, Sasha Banks and Bayley are also butting heads, with either one of them having the chance to turn heel.
Also on last week’s show, Roman Reigns verbally tore into Brock Lesnar. Not one to cower and back down from a fight, Lesnar had Heyman do his bidding on RAW this week.
So what transpired on this week’s show? Let us take a look.
Kurt Angle announces a huge mixed tag team match for WrestleMania
The General Manager of RAW kicked things off this week, and did not waste any time, bringing up Triple H’s sucker punch on last week’s show. Kurt called Triple H out for a fight, but instead, Stephanie McMahon interrupted him.
Stephanie told Kurt not to do something stupid and lose his job, but the Commissioner was interrupted by Ronda Rousey! Ronda and Stephanie talked about Ronda signing with WWE, and Stephanie revealed that Ronda could choose any active Superstar on the RAW roster. Rousey, instead, chose Stephanie!
While Stephanie said she was a part of management, Kurt revealed that she also signed a Superstar contract, and as the General Manager, he made the match official! Triple H then intervened, leading to Kurt making it a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania!
Triple H tried to sucker punch Angle, but Kurt had it scouted, and attacked Triple H. Stephanie decked Ronda from behind, and made a run for it afterwards. Kurt locked Triple H in the ankle lock, and Triple H was dragged out of the ring by Stephanie. Ronda wasn’t done with Stephanie however, and pulled her back into the ring, and dropped her with a Samoan Drop to end the segment.
Nia Jax’s bid to go to WrestleMania goes up in flames
At Elimination Chamber, Nia Jax was unsuccessful in handing Asuka her first loss in the WWE. Asuka persevered and finally walked out with the win, but Nia had yet another opportunity at beating Asuka on this week’s show.
Jax once again dominated the proceedings, grounding Asuka and working on her. The Japanese sensation once again weathered the storm, before locking Jax in an arm bar, forcing her to tap! Post match, Nia was in tears, as Mickie and Alexa watched in the back exasperated and in awe at Asuka’s will.
Bliss then comforted a distraught Nia Jax in the back.
The Revival faced The Bar in a non – title match, with a win over the champions giving Dash and Dawson a title match at WrestleMania. The RAW Tag Team Champions however remained defiant, and walked out with the win.
John Cena walks the fans through his WrestleMania plans; Goldust disrupts Cena’s promo
The Leader of Cenation made his way out, and talked about his road to WrestleMania. Cena said that his quest to become a record breaking 17 time world champion took him to SmackDown Live, and vowed to win the title at Fastlane. John even brought up the possibility of him being added to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania, making it a triple threat encounter.
However, Cena was interrupted by Goldust, and the Golden One had other intentions. Goldust said he would be the one going to WrestleMania, and proceeded to deck Cena, leading to a match between the two.
John Cena defeated Goldust with relative ease, dropping him with an Attitude Adjustment for the three count.
Bayley tries to explain her attitude towards Sasha Banks
Last week, Bayley left Banks in the middle of the ring during a six – woman tag team match, but proceeded to return to help her team to victory. The underlying tensions between Sasha and Bayley have slowly but surely started simmering to the fore, and the Huggable Superstar hoped to explain herself this week.
But before she could go through, she was interrupted by Paige and Absolution. Paige mocked Bayley for being without her friend, as Mandy Rose prepared herself to take on the former RAW Women’s Champion.
Rose controlled the bout till the last stages of the match, where Bayley rallied on to win with a roll up. Absolution then pounced on Bayley, but Sasha made the save. Banks offered Bayley a hug, with Bayley refused.
Braun Strowman with his rendition of Symphony of Destruction
Elias and Strowman are currently involved in one of the most intriguing and fun feuds in the company. This week, Kurt booked a ‘Symphony of Destruction’ match between the two, which Elias wasn’t thrilled about. Elias also showcased his musical skills, playing on the drums, piano and guitar, before trying to scurry away at the sight of Braun.
Braun, however, held on to Elias’s limo, dragging him back to the ring. Both the Superstars threw every musical equipment they could get their hands on, with Elias breaking a guitar on Strowman’s back. Strowman, not to be left behind, broke a bass on Elias, and later drove a piano into Elias’s mid section to pick up the victory!
Bray Wyatt faced Rhyno, and finished the bout inside a minute! Wyatt then called out Hardy, and both the Superstars cut promos on each other. Hardy challenged Wyatt to a match at the Hardy Compound for ‘The Ultimate Deletion’.
The Miz to defend Intercontinental title in a triple threat match at WrestleMania
The A – Lister waltzed to the ring, along with his Miztourage. He then made fun of The Academy Awards, and had his own version of awards – The Mizzie Awards. Miz handed a few to Angle, Rollins and Finn Balor, but saved the best for himself. He was interrupted by Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, which led to a three – on – two Handicap match.
The heels got the upper hand initially, playing on the numbers’ advantage, but Seth and Finn rallied back, and competed with each other! The Architect got the victory for his team, and post match, Angle announced a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental title!
Paul Heyman brings a message from Lesnar
Last week, Roman Reigns verbally assaulted Lesnar, and kept bringing up how Lesnar failed to show up on RAW, and was hanging out with his UFC friends instead. WWE played up Lesnar’s contractual situation, with Roman saying that Brock would rather go to the UFC than stay in the WWE.
This week, Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman was in the building to talk about Lesnar’s mindset. Heyman brought the Universal title with him, and put over Lesnar’s accomplishments. Paul talked about Brock conquering the UFC, before telling Roman that he was in the fight of his life at WrestleMania.
Roman then strutted out, and huffed and puffed at Heyman. Reigns didn’t like the fact that Lesnar was not on RAW, and said he’d see him next week.
