The RAW Review – Fallout from the Superstar Shake Up

A week removed from WrestleMania 33, and we’re already seeing a paradigm shift in WWE. Last week on RAW, Vince McMahon announced that he would be “shaking things up”. It was announced that a ‘mini draft’ would happen this week, with Superstars from RAW, SmackDown Live and NXT all being eligible to take part in the draft.

Going into this week’s show, everyone wanted to see how Roman Reigns would bounce back, after getting booed out of the building last week. Also, who would be drafted to the red brand? Last but not least, how will the new General Manager of RAW, Kurt Angle, deal with his new job? We got a glimpse of all the above mentioned points on this week’s show.

Byron Saxton welcomed the fans, saying they were hitting the reset button on this week’s show.

RAW gets the A – Lister and the Intercontinental Champion

John Cena’s music played to kick off the show, but it was The Miz and Maryse that came out. Miz and Maryse dressed up as Cena and Nikki Bella, and cut a promo, where they took shots at Cena for being robotic. Miz said Hollywood didn’t want Cena and Nikki, and said they were terrible actors.

However, they were interrupted by Dean Ambrose! The Intercontinental Champion came down to the ring, and thanked ‘Cena’ and ‘Nikki’ for beating Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania. When Miz explained to Ambrose that they were Miz and Maryse – and not Cena and Nikki, Dean dropped him with the Dirty Deeds.

Backstage, Sami Zayn met with Kurt Angle, and asked him about his situation. Miz and Maryse interrupted the duo, and Kurt made a match between The Miz and Sami.

The New Day made their way out, as Woods and Big E had a Kofi blow – up doll. Kofi underwent surgery yesterday, and is reportedly set to sit on the sidelines for several weeks. Woods and Big E faced The Revival, and the former NXT tag team champions picked up the victory with the Shatter Machine.

Curt Hawkins made his way out, and said he was back on RAW! However, the homecoming was cut short when The Big Show came out, and punched Hawkins’ lights out!

TJ Perkins goes dark

After the brief confrontation backstage, it looked as if Neville managed to get into TJ’s head. TJ made his way out to take on Austin Aries in a singles match. WWE announced Aries would face Neville at WWE Payback for the Cruiserweight title.

After a good back and forth match, Aries had the upper hand, when Neville, who was on commentary decided to go ringside. This distracted Aries, as Perkins took advantage of the situation and rolled Aries up to pick up the victory. After the match, Perkins attacked Aries, turning heel in the process!

Kurt Angle then made his way out, and said that while Stephanie McMahon would love to see Seth gone, he’d want him on RAW. Samoa Joe attacked Rollins, as Angle tried to break them up. Rollins ended up getting the upper hand, as Joe retreated.

Charlotte Flair faced Nia Jax in a singles match. Nia botched two moves during the bout, but picked up the victory in the end with a Samoan Drop. Elias Samson was seen walking among the fans during the bout.

Finn Balor faced Jinder Mahal, and defeated him with the Double Foot Stomp. Bray Wyatt appeared on the big screen, and said that he was coming back to RAW. Wyatt cut a promo on Finn, and said that his match with Orton at Payback will still happen.

Apollo Crews, Kalisto, and The Beauty and the Man Beast were then announced as the new RAW recruits.

The Miz faced Sami Zayn, and during the bout, Maryse tried to get involved by pulling Miz away from the Helluva Kick. She then grabbed Sami’s foot, but Sami managed to pick up the victory with a roll up.

Braun Strowman annihilates Roman Reigns

Roman sat down with Michael Cole, to talk about his victory at WrestleMania 33. Reigns said it was bitter sweet, and said it was his yard. The fans booed, as Roman talked about keeping his word. However, he was then attacked by Braun Strowman, who rag dolled him, and threw him around. The fans cheered Braun, who viciously attacked Reigns.

Braun sandwiched Roman between the wall and a case, and left Roman withering in pain. Roman was then stretchered out, but Braun threw him off a platform. The crowd cheered, as the medics finally loaded Roman into an ambulance. Braun returned however, saying he wasn’t done with Reigns!

Braun then flipped the ambulance on its side, as the crowd got behind Strowman! Roman was then taken to a hospital in another ambulance.

The team of Hardys, Cesaro and Sheamus took on The Shining Stars, and Anderson/Gallows. The Hardys picked up the victory for their team, as Samson was seen walking on the stage.
