It has been a wild 24 hours; from Lesnar beating Reigns convincingly, to the point that the fans had to pinch themselves if it was really happening, or if it was merely an extension, a physical manifestation of their dreams, to the end of Asuka’s long, record breaking undefeated streak in the company, WrestleMania 24 certainly lived up to the hype.
We also crowned new champions at WrestleMania 34, the most surprising of the lot being the 10 – year – old Nicholas becoming one half of the RAW tag team champions! Neither Nicholas, nor his parents would’ve imagined in their wildest of dreams that he would find himself standing on the WWE apron at WrestleMania 34!
While the wild ride that is WrestleMania ended, the road to WrestleMania 35 began earlier today in New Orleans, with Monday Night RAW being the center stage. Here is everything that transpired earlier today.
Stephanie McMahon tries to play nice, gets attacked by Ronda
At WrestleMania 34, Ronda Rousey made Stephanie McMahon writhe in pain, and tap out to the arm bar. The Rowdy One looked at home, as she mauled Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, en route to winning the match for her team.
On RAW, Stephanie McMahon kicked things off, and talked about what transpired on Sunday night. She took credit for bringing the best out of Ronda Rousey, and after stroking her ego, called Ronda out to the ring.
Once Rousey came out, Stephanie extended the olive branch, and said she would make Ronda the biggest star in the world. McMahon promised to get the WWE machine behind Rousey, and take her to unprecedented heights. Ronda and Stephanie then shook hands and hugged, before Rousey’s facial expressions changed!
Ronda locked Stephanie in an arm bar, before releasing her as Stephanie wailed in agony. Stephanie was then escorted to the back, as the fans sang her goodbye.
Ember Moon makes her RAW debut
At WrestleMania 34, Nia Jax finally got her revenge, when she defeated Alexa Bliss. The new RAW Women’s Champion received a warm welcome on RAW, but was interrupted by the former champion, and her partner in crime, Mickie James.
Jax then informed the duo that she did have a partner for tonight, and introduced Ember Moon to the fans! The former NXT Women’s Champion made her main roster debut, as she teamed up with Jax to face Bliss and James.
After a decent back and forth match, Ember Moon delivered the Eclipse to Bliss to pick up the win for her team.
No Way Jose made his main roster debut as well, defeating John Skyler with ease.
Braun Strowman and Nicholas relinquish the tag team gold
Backstage, Strowman and Nicholas approached the General Manager. Braun then told Kurt that they were going to give up the tag team titles, as Nicholas had a schedule conflict, since he was still in the fourth grade.
Kurt then announced a tournament to find the new champions, with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows facing The Revival. Dash and Dawson picked up the win to advance to the next round.
Seth Rollins addresses the New Orleans crowd
At WrestleMania 34, The Kingslayer walked into the triple threat match, and managed to get his hand raised when all was said and done. Rollins pinned The Miz to become a grand slam champion, and the new Intercontinental Champion strutted out to address the crowd.
Rollins talked about joining his brothers Reigns and Ambrose as a grand slam champion, and talked about winning at WrestleMania. Finn Balor then came out to congratulate Seth, and challenged him for the title. However, The Miz and Miztourage interrupted the proceedings, as Miz and Rollins went back and forth on the microphone.
In the end, Rollins and Balor were challenged to a 3 – on – 2 Handicap match, but Jeff Hardy returned, to even things out. A six man tag team match was announced for the main event.
Paige announces her retirement from WWE
Sasha Banks faced Mandy Rose, but Bayley made her way out to be in Sasha’s corner. During the match, Bayley accidentally took out Sasha, leading to Rose picking up the win. Post match, Paige took the microphone to address the crowd, as Rose and Sonya left the ring to give her the center stage.
Paige then cut an emotional promo, recounting her journey in the company. What started four years ago in the very same place, also marked the bookend to Paige’s career. With tears in her eyes, Paige thanked the fans and the WWE locker room, before announcing her retirement. Paige said she would figure out what would be next for her, as she waived the fans one last goodbye.
Bobby Lashley makes his WWE return
Elias made his way out as the NOLA fans cheered him on, even calling themselves scumbags. The crowd ate up whatever Elias said, and chanted his name, as the guitarist – cum – Superstar watched in amusement. Elias then sang a song putting the crowd down, but they cheered him on regardless.
However, Bobby Lashley interrupted the concert, as the fans welcomed back the former ECW Champion! Lashley took out Elias, and ended the segment with a delayed vertical suplex.
Rhyno and Slater then marched out, with Slater demanding to face any tag team in the locker room. The Authors of Pain showed up, making their RAW debut, and took out Rhyno and Slater with ease. Post match, they left Paul Ellerig at ringside.
Samoa Joe returns on RAW
Roman Reigns made his way out, and was booed out of the building. The former champion still couldn’t comprehend what happened last night, and talked about Lesnar re-signing with the company. Reigns couldn’t believe the fact that Lesnar was not at RAW, and talked about facing Brock in the Middle East. Roman vowed to win the Universal title, but was interrupted by Samoa Joe!
Joe called Reigns a failure, and talked about how he couldn’t accomplish the one thing he set out to do. Samoa Joe then warned Roman, saying after he once again lost to Lesnar in the Middle East, he would take him out at Backlash.
Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt faced Titus Worldwide in the tag team competition, and defeated Apollo and Titus O’Neil to advance to the next round.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens denied a spot on RAW
After losing their WrestleMania match, Owens and Zayn sought employment on RAW, but Angle told them that there was only one spot left on the roster. Kurt made a match between the two, with the winner getting a spot on the RAW roster.
Sami and Kevin threw their friendship out of the window, and went toe – to – toe for the opportunity to compete on RAW. Both the Superstars dished out punishment, and neither man gained a clear advantage. During the bout, both the Superstars fell out of the ring, and failed to answer the ten count. As a result, neither man was presented with a spot on the RAW roster.
Backstage, Jeff ran into Matt, and Bray Wyatt called Jeff ‘Brother Nero’.
Jeff Hardy, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor stand tall
In the main event, The Miz and Miztourage faced Rollins, Balor and Jeff Hardy. While the heels managed to get the upper hand for the majority of the bout, the faces gathered momentum towards the end, and picked up the win.
Post match, Dallas and Axel tried to attack the trio, but ate all three finishers for their troubles. RAW ended with all the three Superstars posing, as Rollins draped the IC title over his shoulder.
