Predicted XI for IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals broke tradition and became big money spenders at the IPL Auction 2018 with their big bids for Ben Stokes, Jaydev Unadkat and Krishnappa Gowtham.

The Royals came back to the Indian Premier League after two years, and retained only Steve Smith ahead of the player auction. With a near clean state at the auction table, the Royals went big with a bid of Rs. 12.5 crores to acquire the services of Ben Stokes, along with the big-hitting Jos Buttler and opening batsman Ajinkya Rahane. RR also strengthened their pace bowling attack with Jaydev Unadkat (Rs. 11.5 crores), Jofra Archer and Dhawal Kulkarni. Their spin bowling combination consists of Krishnappa Gowtham, Ankit Sharma and Shreyas Gopal.

The Royals have tried to bring back most of their core team with Smith, Rahane, Binny, Sanju Samson and Dhawal Kulkarni all making their way back to Jaipur for this season of the IPL. It will be interesting to see how Smith leads the Royals and what combination he thinks is best suited to play with their new additions this year.

With their squad at the end of the auction, their playing XI could be as follows:

  1. Rahul Tripathi
  2. Ajinkya Rahane
  3. Steve Smith
  4. Sanju Samson
  5. Ben Stokes
  6. Jos Buttler
  7. K Gowtham
  8. Jofra Archer
  9. Stuart Binny
  10. Dhawal Kulkarni
  11. Jaydev Unadkat
