In a feature for Lord’s Cricket Ground, England ODI captain Eoin Morgan was asked to pick his All-Time XI.
Morgan’s team is as unconventional as his batting! He’s picked Alastair Cook and Jacques Kallis as his openers – interesting given Kallis has predominantly been a middle order batsman. His middle order is filled with some of the best batsmen to have played the game, in Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara and AB de Villiers. He’s picked two wicket-keepers, Kumar Sangakkara and MS Dhoni. In a departure from the standard ‘Warne-Murali’ picks, Morgan has picked Anil Kumble, with whom he shared the dressing room when he was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. His new ball attack consists of two modern greats in James Anderson and Dale Steyn, backed up by some serious fire-power with Mitchell Johnson.
The criteria for selection is players they have played with, against or have been influenced by.
