The youngest wicket-keeper batsman in Test cricket, Parthiv Patel was only 17 years old on debut in 2002 against England. Parthiv has since then represented India in both Test and ODI cricket and also been a prolific run getter in the domestic circuit for Gujarat and for the different IPL franchises that he has represented. The baby faced cricketer though has a prankster inside him and he himself confessed that he becomes restless when he is told not to do something as he always ends up trying it! In an interview, Parthiv narrated an incident when he rang a fire alarm in the dressing room during his first tour with team India and then left with the team to the hotel.
He has also been a very chirpy wicket-keeper and says he once fearlessly took on the legendary Steve Waugh. When Waugh walked out to bat in his final Test match, the young keeper tried to break his concentration by chirping to him. Parthiv then recalls how Waugh told him to show him some respect since he made his Test debut when Parthiv was probably still in his nappies!
