#OnThisDay: Tendulkar scores century #32 and #51

The ‘master’ Sachin Tendulkar has played a lot of memorable innings throughout his illustrious career. Being the top international batsman for over 20 years and having scored hundred international centuries, Sachin inspired generations of cricketers. The 4th of January is a day when Sachin reached two milestones in his Test career.

Sachin’s 241 versus Australia (SCG):

On this day in 2004, Sachin played a brilliant innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground to record his third test double hundred. The knock witnessed Sachin at his best, playing his trademarked straight drives and flicks on the leg side. His innings of 241, also saw India cross the 700 run mark in the first innings, ensuring a historic result for team India. They drew the match and the series at 1-1.

Sachin’s 146 versus South Africa (Cape Town):

On this day in 2011, Tendulkar scored his 51st Test hundred, which also turned out to be his last Test hundred. The innings came in the third and final Test against South Africa at Cape Town. He brought up his hundred with an unconventional shot behind the keeper for six. The crowds although supporting the home team, were on their feet to acknowledge what would be Sachin’s last game in South Africa.
