#OnThisDay: Ntini’s final appearance for South Africa

On 9th January 2011, South Africa’s Makhaya Ntini made his last international appearance for the Proteas in the only T20I between India and South Africa at the Moses Mabhida Football Stadium. Ntini remains one of South Africa’s greatest pace bowlers.

In one of his best ODI spells in 2006, Ntini picked up 6/22 against Australia to win the game for his side. His six wickets included those of Gilchrist, Damien Martyn, Michael Clarke and Shane Watson. Ntini was quick and managed to take the ball away from the left handers. His best delivery though, was the deadly bouncer to dismiss Martyn. Ntini’s man-of-the-match award winning performance ensured that Australia were reduced to one of their lowest ever ODI scores – 93!
