Major star reportedly set to make his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble

A year ago during the Royal Rumble match in 2016, the WWE Universe bore witness to the phenomenon known as AJ Styles making his much anticipated WWE debut. For months, rumours were swirling around regarding the future of the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, and once it was reported that Styles had parted ways with New Japan Pro Wrestling, it was only a matter of time before he showed up in a WWE ring.

And then, this happened.

John Cena uploaded a photo of AJ Styles on his Instagram account, which all but confirmed Styles’ arrival. AJ Styles made his WWE debut during the Royal Rumble match, and as the year wrapped up, Styles cemented his legacy, winning the prestigious WWE Championship.

While the Royal Rumble season brings with it a host of rumours about potential returns and debuts, more often than not, they turn out to be false. How many times have we seen and heard rumours about major stars coming to WWE, only for that to eventually fall through? Everything in professional wrestling needs to be taken with a grain of salt – especially the stories “broken” by dirt sheets.

Kenny Omega reportedly on his way to WWE

Kenny Omega, who until recently competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling, is considered to be one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet today. His recent match with Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11 received critical acclaim, and was hailed by many as one of the best wrestling matches in recent memory.

After losing his match, Omega sent out a tweet, saying he would be taking some time off from New Japan Pro Wrestling, which resulted in rumours making rounds about his eventual WWE debut. And then, this happened.

Similar to the AJ Styles picture Cena uploaded before the Royal Rumble last year, the Leader of CeNation has once again dropped a major hint about “The Cleaner” possibly making his way to the company. Does this mean Omega will be making his WWE debut during the Royal Rumble, similar to Styles last year? Only time will tell, but if we fancy playing Sherlock Holmes for now, we may very well witness Kenny wowing the WWE Universe in a couple of weeks’ time.
