Two former IPL champions will take on each other at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday evening. Sunrisers Hyderabad with the loss of David Warner will be led by Kane Williamson whilst the Rajasthan Royals too have Ajinkya Rahane at the forefront in place of Steve Smith. RR spent big during the auction and bought two of the most expensive cricketers in this season – Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat while SRH bought enough backups for all departments of their squad. The face-off between the two sides in their first game of the season will be an interesting one with superstars on both teams.
If you are a fantasy IPL enthusiast and are confused on which players to pick in your teams ahead of this game, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered:
SRH look like the most balanced squad at the start of the season with sufficient backups for most of the departments. As was the case in the past, their biggest strength is their bowling department with enough pace and spin options. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will spearhead the bowling attack which also boasts of Rashid Khan, Mehdi Hasan, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi and Chris Jordan. All rounders Shakib Al Hassan, Yusuf Pathan and Mohammed Nabi and Carlos Brathwaite will be vital to the team’s balance and skipper Williamson will expect them to step up through the season.
Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson (C), Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hassan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi
Key Fantasy Picks: Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Manish Pandey will be the key fantasy picks from SRH given Bhuvi’s ability to pick up wickets with the new ball and end overs along with Pandey’s ability to play big knocks in the middle order.
RR is a side with a number of options in most facets of the game, with their explosive batting being one of the talking points about the squad. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Rahul Tripathi and D’Arcy Short form the firepower of the batting lineup with Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson providing stability. When it comes to their bowling, RR have got Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni, Anureet Singh, Ankit Sharma, Joffra Archer and Ben Laughlin. While RR’s batting is very strong, the bowling looks a little thin and could pose problems especially on the spin front.
Probable XI: Ajinkya Rahane (C), Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson (WK), Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, D’Arcy Short, Stuart Binny, Joffra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni
Key Fantasy Picks: Rahul Tripathi and Ben Stokes will be key fantasy picks from Rajasthan Royals with their abilities to win the game single handedly.
