Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav return as BCCI announced the 16-member squad for the six-match ODI series against South Africa on Saturday (December 23).
The 29-year-old, who was rested for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka, will return to lead the side. Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur also return after missing out against Thisara Perrera’s side. Kedar Yadav also makes a comeback after recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered early December.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja miss out over the preferred wrist-spinning pair of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Despite a couple of half-centuries in the T20Is, KL Rahul finds himself left out over Ajinkya Rahane, in-form Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Shreyas Iyer’s impressive showing sees him retain his spot in the side. A lack of chances has not hampered Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey’s spots in the squad.
