Nagpur witnessed an absolute thriller that India won in the end thanks to the experience of Nehra and the accuracy of Bumrah. Things started off well for India with Virat Kohli starting strong, with some stunning shots. KL Rahul then built a solid foundation before playing his shots and played an exceptional knock in a match where no other batsman was able to quite time his shots.

The English pacers did a great job of restricting the Indian total to under 150, using slower deliveries to great effect. England ran into trouble in the chase, when they lost the openers to two well directed short balls from Ashish Nehra. Ben Stokes and Joe Root did their best to get England back on track, with Stokes attacking the part time spin of Suresh Raina. Interestingly, Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl at all but Kohli chose to give Raina 4 overs. Bumrah bowled two exceptional overs – the 18th and the 20th to win India a game that wasn’t theirs to win.
