Five possible feuds for Ronda Rousey in WWE

Five possible feuds for Ronda Rousey in WWE

After months of rumours and anticipation, the grand reveal happened at the Royal Rumble. Ronda Rousey, who initially opened doors for a WWE run at WrestleMania 31, strode down to the ring, in a Roddy Piper T – Shirt and a jacket he wore years ago. The Rowdy One defiantly stood in front of the women’s Rumble match winner, the RAW Women’s Champion and the SmackDown Women’s Champion, gazing at the WrestleMania insignia hoisted above the arena, and making her intentions crystal clear.

At least, Ronda Rousey had made her mark in WWE.

While Ronda is currently busy with her movie commitments, she will be in action at WrestleMania. Rousey has since signed a full time WWE contract, and while it is still undecided if she would belong to one brand, there are certainly some enticing rivalries waiting for her.

Today, we take a look at five possible rivalries for the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

#5 Sonya Deville vs. Ronda Rousey

The fact that Sonya was a former mixed martial artist herself makes this an intriguing match up. While Deville is relatively new to the main roster, she has the looks and the skills to become a major star. Obviously, working with someone like Paige will help her going forward, and a show down with Rousey may be in the offing sooner than one would expect.

Deville will only improve as time moves on, and she has the mean streak to pull off being a dominant Superstar. With her MMA background, and her ability to work a good match, she would be a good opponent for Rousey once Ronda starts competing actively.

#4 Sasha Banks vs. Ronda Rousey

Over the past year, Sasha’s role on RAW has diminished. The four time RAW Women’s Champion is expected to face Bayley at WrestleMania, and while that would’ve been a marquee match not too long ago, both their stocks have fallen down greatly.

It wasn’t a year ago that Banks was expected to lead the surge on RAW, and take the division to greater heights. With Bliss doing a phenomenal job as the champion, and the addition of Asuka to the RAW roster has greatly affected her spot on the roster, and she has been pulled down into the realm of expandables.

However, Banks can resurrect her career by turning heel, and could get back to being relevant by feuding with Rousey after WrestleMania 34. Sasha has been vocal in the past regarding the role of part – timers in the promotion, and giving her a live mic could arguably lead to CM Punk – esque situation developing in the company.

#3 Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey

Charlotte Flair is on SmackDown Live, and if we consider the possibility that Rousey wouldn’t be confined to just one brand, her feuding with the SmackDown Women’s Champion makes complete sense. Ronda and Charlotte have butted heads before, and while that did not lead to anything substantial, a rivalry between the two influential characters could lead to some exciting moments.

Charlotte Flair is expected to face Asuka at WrestleMania, while Bliss is penciled in to face Nia Jax. However, post WrestleMania, we could very well see two or three Horsewomen from MMA taking on two or three members of WWE’s Horsewomen. This could lead to a blow – off match between Charlotte Flair and Ronda.

One can always hope.

#2 Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey

Nia is one of the most dominant Superstars in the company today, and has laid waste to numerous top talents. While Asuka has been the only Superstar till date to bring Nia down to her size, a feud between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey, to find the true dominant force would be a sight to behold.

Ronda already has the reputation of being one of the most feared athletes in the world, and a feud with her would bring more credibility to Jax. The sight of Ronda trying to lock Jax in an arm bar, with Nia trying to shake her off would be something the fans would remember for some time.

#1 Asuka vs. Ronda Rousey

From the moment Asuka slapped Ronda’s hand away at the Royal Rumble, everyone has been clamoring to see both the women go toe – to – toe in WWE. Asuka has been booked as the greatest force in women’s wrestling, and if rumours are to be believed, both the Superstars will feud after WrestleMania.

While it is being speculated that Rousey would be the first Superstar to hand Asuka her pin fall loss in the company, the plans can change at any time. Both the performers could trade wins, leading to a big blow – off match, which could be the biggest women’s match since the time of Lita and Trish Stratus!
