On 30th August 2016, England went on to register the highest total in ODI cricket, smashing 444/3 thanks to a sensational innings at the top from Alex Hales.
The carnage was led by Alex Hales, who went on to score 171 off just 122 balls, hitting 22 fours and 4 sixes! While the opener took the aggressor’s role, Joe Root calmly went about his batting, contributing 85 off 86 balls in a partnership of 248. Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler joined the party in the latter stages and propelled the home side to 444, with an unbeaten partnership of 161. Captain Morgan, who took the decision to bat first, contributed 57 off just 27 balls, but England’s wicket-keeper was the star during the end overs, scoring 90 off only 51 balls with 7 fours and 7 sixes!
Pakistan never looked in a position to threaten the required target, with fifties from Sharjeel Khan and Mohammad Amir being the only bright spots in the run-chase. Eventually, England bowled out the opposition for just 275 runs and took a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
England set record score of 444 in ODIs. Don't know if Pak will be in any state of mind to chase this down after the relentless pounding
