Brendon McCullum ruled out of the remainder of the IPL due to hamstring strain

Gujarat Lions batsman Brendon McCullum sustained a hamstring injury against Delhi Daredevils on May 4th, which will cause him to miss the remainder of the IPL season.

Gujarat Lions is already out of contention in the tournament, with it being mathematically impossible for them to make the top 4 even if they were to win all of their three remaining games. No replacement has been named for McCullum so far.

While the Lions lost Dwayne Bravo and Andrew Tye to injury earlier in the season, Jason Roy had to leave the tournament for national duty against Ireland. McCullum’s injury leaves Gujarat with only four overseas players remaining – Chirag Suri, Dwayne Smith, James Faulkner and Aaron Finch.

McCullum scored 319 runs in 11 matches for Gujarat Lions this season, at a strike rate of 147.
