BCCI to announce cash prize for India U-19 cricketers after team reaches final of U-19 World Cup

CK Khanna, the acting president of the BCCI said today that the board will announce a cash reward for the Indian U-19 team players, after they beat Pakistan in the semi-final of the U-19 World Cup. The team will face Australia in the final.

According to a report by NDTV, Khanna also added that the team will be felicitated, and congratulated them on the victory against Pakistan in the semi-final. Khanna said, “I would like to congratulate the entire team and coach Rahul Dravid for this performance. Rahul’s contribution in guiding the Gen Next cricketers has been immense. Because of him we now have a talented pool of U-19 cricketers. The BCCI will announce cash awards and also felicitate the team.”

India beat Pakistan by a massive margin of 203 runs to book their place in the final of the U-19 World Cup against Australia. Australia beat Afghanistan by six wickets in their semi-final clash.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Shubman Gill made 102* off 94 balls to help the team to a total of 272/9 in their 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for a mere 69 runs in 29.3 overs. Gill was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 1.8 crore rupees in the recently concluded IPL Auction, and is currently the Indian team’s leading run scorer in the U-19 World Cup with 341 runs. Pakistan’s defeat to India was their heaviest ever at the U-19 level.

India will play Australia in the final of the U-19 World Cup on Saturday, February 3rd.
