Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has confirmed its coaching staff for the 2018 IPL season, ahead of the auction which is set to take place on January 27 and January 28.
While New Zealander Daniel Vettori remains the head coach of the franchise, he will be joined by Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Kirsten signed up to join the RCB coaching staff last week. This will be his second involvement in the IPL, after Delhi Daredevils cut short his three year contract in 2015. He is currently the head coach of the Australian Big Bash League side Hobart Hurricanes.
Ashish Nehra will join the team in the capacity of mentor and bowling coach, and will once again be united with Kirsten after playing for him in the victorious 2011 World Cup winning campaign.
Keeping in mind the long-term plan of the franchise, the roles of Trent Woodhill and Andrew McDonald have also been re-aligned. While Woodhill will overlook batting talent development and analytics in addition to being the fielding coach, McDonald will overlook bowling talent development and analytics.
