Jinder Mahal is set to face the Japanese sensation, Shinsuke Nakamura at SummerSlam, with the WWE title up for grabs.
The Canadian with Indian roots has amiably represented the Indian subcontinent in the company, and became the first Superstar of Indian descent to have won the prestigious WWE Championship. In doing so, Mahal became only the second Superstar of Indian roots to have won a world title in WWE, after The Great Khali.
It is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year for the Indian athletes. With Jinder representing a billion people in the largest entertainment organisation in the world, we are just days away from witnessing yet another athlete raising the Indian flag – this time in the UFC.
Arjan Singh Bhullar will become the first ever fighter of Indian roots to compete inside the Octagon, as he prepares to fight Luis Henrique at UFC 215. Arjan and Jinder are good friends, and before SummerSlam, the UFC heavyweight had a message for his compatriot.
Arjan Bhullar sends his wishes to Jinder Mahal
While Jinder has faced – and defeated Randy Orton before, he faces a unique challenge in Nakamura. Shinsuke has achieved everything there is to achieve in Japan, winning the prestigious IWGP Heavyweight Championship on multiple occasions.
‘The King of Strong Style’ has now set his sights on the WWE Championship, and Jinder needs to give everything he has to come out victorious at SummerSlam.
The newest UFC acquisition has trained with Jinder Mahal before, and during our conversation earlier today, sent ‘The Maharaja’ his best wishes.
Jinder, my brother. Keep doing what you’re doing. You have Punjabi blood in you. Represent our people, fight with all your heart.
You put a lot of work into this, to get where you are at. We’re all behind you. Get it done, and I’ll see you in Edmonton (at UFC 215).
